The Rhine

Natural waterways such as the Rhine are subject to natural influences. The Rhine is usually navigable all year around and ranks among the most travelled waterways in the world, due to the enlarged fairway and precipitations which are spread over the year. The fleet which runs on the waterway is estimated at 6,900 ships. (Source: Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine)

There can be interruptions or restrictions in extreme phases of weather, due to too high or low water levels. Official and current water levels give information about possible interruptions.
